Let's take an
inner journey together.

Whether you're facing a hard season of life, needing to be heard, or simply wanting to listen closely to what's on your own mind, you're welcome to pick whichever way feels right and reach out.

Core values

Empathy

I meet every client with empathy, hoping you'll feel understood and safe enough to tell your story, and find an outlet for the tangle of feelings inside.

Listening

I believe everyone is the expert on their own life. I listen closely to the experiences and thoughts that matter to you, and face life's hard parts alongside you.

Embracing diversity

Across race, gender, sexual orientation, religion and more, I hold a humble heart, ready to respect, to try to understand, to listen, and to walk with you.

Strength-based

I pay attention to your strengths through the counselling process, helping you meet another side of yourself, and explore how your own unique strengths can move you forward.

About counselling psychology

A person-centred approach

Beyond studying different counselling theories, a counselling psychologist also has a solid grounding in psychology, able to draw together perspectives from different schools of thought to look closely at the situation and needs you're facing.

A non-pathological perspective is another core part of counselling psychology. On one hand, we understand different emotional and mental health conditions; on the other, we believe that whether or not someone lives with a mental illness, every person has their own strengths. A mental illness may be part of a client's life, but it is not the whole of them, and it is not the end.

And even if you don't live with any mental illness, there may still be experiences leaving you confused, things you'd like someone to help you make sense of.

Some struggles are simply part of reaching different stages of life: uncertainty about the future, difficulties in relationships, the loss of someone we love. Feeling sad or low doesn't mean you have a mental illness. A non-pathological perspective focuses on the everyday situations all of us face, and works with the kinds of struggles that don't stem from illness.

A counselling psychologist holds to a humanistic, person-centred spirit. We believe you are the expert on your own life, and that you'll lead us to the issues that matter most to you. On this journey through life, I'd count it a privilege to explore alongside you, to look at these experiences afresh through a strength-based lens, to uncover potential you may never have noticed, and to live a different kind of life.

What I can help you face

Concerns I've walked through with others

In no particular order. Every struggle deserves to be taken seriously.

Emotional distress

Are you carrying a persistent weight of emotion? It might be grief, anger, a sense of being wronged, or a low mood that settles in for no clear reason and just won't lift. Come and talk through these tangled feelings.

Deaf counselling

Hong Kong's first counselling psychologist able to work in Hong Kong Sign Language, with a deep understanding of the Deaf community's needs and of Deaf culture. Deaf, hard-of-hearing and hearing-impaired clients are welcome to use whatever way of communicating feels most comfortable to them.

Family conflict

Many of us were raised on the idea that family shame shouldn't leave the home, and so we don't dare speak of the pain our families have caused. But there is nothing shameful about family conflict. Having the courage to face your love and your hurt towards your family is, in fact, a beautiful thing. When we heal the wounds family leaves behind, perhaps we learn to love more fully.

Parenting stress

You may have poured most of your energy and time into your child, yet the relationship still doesn't feel the way you'd hoped. Give yourself a little more time for self-compassion, and let some of the pressure and worry go. You and every child are one of a kind, so let's explore, through the lens of psychology, an approach to parenting that fits you both.

Love & relationships

Whether past or present, there may be disappointments and hurts from a relationship still shaping how you feel. Come and listen to what's on your mind, and explore the kind of love you need, to give and to receive, and the future you hope to move towards.

Connection with others

Some of us want to keep a certain distance from others; some long to move closer to people. What kind of relationships do you hope to have? Sometimes what looks like a struggle between people is really telling us about the distance between us and our own hearts.

Trauma

Is there an experience that has left you in deep pain, that hit you hard? You may be living with the weight of trauma, whether from things that happened as you grew up, or a single event that left a lasting mark. Come and talk about these important parts of your life.

Losing a pet

For many of us a pet is a beloved member of the family, and losing them can grieve us as deeply as losing someone closest to us, a sorrow that lingers. Come and share your grief and your longing, and let's look together at the tender, moving love they left behind, and the beautiful trail it traced through your life.

Sleep

Sometimes we can't fall asleep because we're still holding on to yesterday; sometimes it's because we're worrying about tomorrow. And you? Come and talk about whatever's keeping you tossing and turning, and let's explore how to live a little more in the present, and say goodbye to today with more peace.

Self-image

Maybe you worry a great deal about how others see you, afraid you're not good enough. Come and talk about how you see yourself. Sometimes we don't realise we hold far more strength and courage than we imagined, the very things that have carried us through one hard patch after another.

Career uncertainty

Are you feeling lost about where your studies or work are heading? Come and explore your thoughts about your path, and let's use different career-exploration tools to understand your real interests and the direction that suits you.
